A067 Propose Additional Optional Fast Days for Lesser Feasts and Fasts
Resolution A067 seeks to address the reality that Lesser Feasts and Fasts has in practice been nearly all feasts. There are desirable reasons for adding more fast days to the calendar, including both the traditional practices of abstinence and self-denial but also attending to works of justice and mercy. The observance of fast days may also be used to call the church more deeply into the practice of discipleship. This resolution calls for the SCLM, in the coming triennium, to study the question of fast days in the church's calendar, and the possible addition of fast days to the calendar if the church wills it.
