A194 Study Revision of Joint Rules of Order
Resolved, the House of ________________ concurring,
That pursuant to Rule IX of the Joint Rules of Order of the House of Bishops and the House of Deputies, the General Convention will establish a task force consisting of four bishops appointed by the Presiding Bishop and four clergy or lay persons appointed by the President of the House of Deputies, to study the Joint Rules of Order and report back to the 80th General Convention on its findings and with a proposed revision of the Joint Rules of Order; the expenses of the task force will be paid from the triennial budget’s interim bodies line item.
Explanation
The House of Deputies substantially revised its Rules of Order in 2015. The House of Bishops revised its Rules of Order in 2018. It now seems sensible to engage in a review of the Joint Rules of Order to explore ways to improve their readability efficiency and usefulness and ensure that they are in accord with the recent revisions to both House's Rules of Order.
